	Informationen zum Lied
	"While Sheperds Watched Their Flocks" ist ein traditionelles Weihnachtslied, dessen Wurzeln (zumindest in Teilen) im 16. Jahrhundert liegen. Der text soll von dem englischen Dichter Nahum Tate stammen und in den letzten Jahren des 17. Jahrhunderts geschrieben worden sein. Die in Großbritannien üblicherweise gesungene Melodie "Winchester Old" soll aus der Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts stammen. Zusammengeführt wurden Text und Melodie jedoch erst von William Henry Monk, der die Kombination im Jahr 1861 erstmalig veröffentlichte.
