	Informationen zum Lied
	"Once in Royal David's City" wurde von Cecil Frances Alexander urspünglich als Gedicht geschrieben. 1848 wurde es im Gesangbuch "Hymns vor little Children" (Lieder für kleine Kinder) veröffentlicht. Erst ein Jahr danach entdeckte der englische Organist Henry John Gauntlett das Gedicht und schrieb eine Melodie dazu. "Once in Royal David's City" wird seit 1919 als Eingangslied der Weihnachtsandacht des King's College gesungen. Diese Andacht wird im Radio live gesendet und von Millionen Zuhörern verfolgt.
